• The Great Columbia Crossing 10k Run/Walk is held annually
• Run walk or run across the longest continuous truss bridge in North America!
The Astoria-Megler Bridge is a tremendous sight to behold anytime you drive across it. However, one day a year in mid-October during the Great Columbia Crossing 10k Run/Walk, there is a unique opportunity to walk or run across the longest continuous truss bridge in North America. Usually, more than 2,000 people participate in the event.
The Great Columbia Crossing took place in 1982 for the first time and it is held every year ever since. It was canceled only once in 2016 due to the harsh weather conditions.
Though the bridge is about four miles (6.54 km) long, the entire race route is six miles (10 km) total from start to finish. The shuttle service takes registered participants to the Washington side, where the race starts.
This is a two-hour family-friendly event for everyone. If you did not have a chance to cross the bridge by the end of the race, the shuttle service will pick you up and take you to the finish point.
