Surrounded by old-growth forest Canyon Creek Recreation Site is a beautiful place where you could easily spend an entire day. This spot is popular among families with kids. An access from a parking area is short and easy.
Managed by BLM, Canyon Creek offers a picnicking, camping, swimming and jumping opportunities. A big swimming area on a bend of the Little North Fork of the Santiam River with a broad sandy and pebble beach make this destination a popular spot on a hot summer day. A big rock across the river is used for jumping. The current is slow. Small rapids that connect a few small pools and feed the bigger pool are used by kids for the natural waterslides.
There are a few picnic sites, a hand pump for potable water, and a restroom.
