Located 27 miles east of Portland, at the confluence of the Bull Run River and Sandy River, Dodge Park is known as a great spot to escape city heat for those who enjoy spending time in nature, on a beach and nearby water. Activities that visitors of the park can practice include but are not limited to swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking, and camping. Dodge Park is a family-friendly and pet-friendly location.
Excellent swimming holes are found along both rivers. River access is as simple as parking your vehicle and walking to the water. The beach is mostly rocky with some sandy areas and some shade, so it might be a good idea to bring water shoes with you. There is a boat ramp at this location.
Dodge Park provides 20 campsites total with 15 tent sites and 5 sites reserved for RVs with a full hookup. Please, be advised that camping is allowed from May 19th till October 2nd. Keep in mind what campsites are located close together.
Anglers frequently visit the park looking to catch some fish species common here. Spring Chinook salmon, fall coho salmon as well as winter and summer steelhead are the examples of fish you have the highest chance to obtain.
The park is open throughout the year and provides amenities such as restrooms, a children's playground, and a community hall. While close proximity to Portland makes this spot a convenient place to go, it can get pretty crowded at times.
There is a closed-to-public watershed maintenance facility just near the park. Under certain conditions, Dodge Park is allowed to leave a shuttle vehicle overnight near the boat ramp. Check the website the City of Oregon to find out more.
