Seaside is the state's oldest vacation seashore resort and a popular coastal destination on the northern Oregon Coast. In addition to the fantastic beach, the Seaside itself offers loads of things to do and to see in the city itself. Due to its proximity to big urban centers like Portland, the beach can get busy on the weekends.

Seaside Beach is the crown jewel of this resort city with its sandy shore, scenic pacific ocean views, and a vast area to enjoy plenty of outdoor activities for families with kids, outdoor enthusiasts, or people who just want to relax and enjoy the beach life.

The beach stretches for nearly 2 miles from the mouth of the Neacanicum River to the Seaside Cove and Tillamook Head with a Seaside Promenade running parallel to it for 1.5 miles. It's a great spot for playing volleyball, sunbathing, fishing, picnicking, beachcombing, surfing, paddle boarding, and a plethora of other activities.

Beachcombing and Rockhounding

The long stretch of the beach is great for collecting ocean treasures like sea shells, sea glass, and weathered wood. You can find olive-snail shells, razor clam shells, sand dollars, western nassa shells, and more. Since this is a sandy beach, it is not the most productive for rockhounding, but after winter storms you have a much higher chance to find agates and other treasures.

Fishing and Clamming

You can angle for redtail surfperch right at the beach or venture into the ocean for ocean-bottom fish. Seaside Beach is also a productive place to dig for razor clams.

Volleyball Tournament

Seaside Beach hosts one of the biggest beach volleyball tournaments in the world. It runs in August for three days during the second full week of the month. There are adult and junior divisions in the competition and cash prizes for winners.

There are numerous parking places for visitors including street parking and city-maintained public parking. There are public restrooms, benches, and picnic tables near the beach. There are also public showers near Turnaround.
