White Creek Campground is tucked into the forest along the Little River, about 33 miles east of Roseburg. Tall conifers surround this small campground, and the gentle sound of flowing water fills the air, creating a quiet, secluded atmosphere.

Shaded by the forest and located at the confluence of White Creek and the Little River, the campground offers a true back-to-nature experience and a peaceful base for exploring the Umpqua National Forest.

Things to Do near White Creek

One of the best things about staying at White Creek is the easy access to outdoor activities in the surrounding forest.

Hiking

Several excellent hiking trails are within a short drive of the campground. About 6 miles west, a trail beginning at Wolf Creek Falls Recreation Area leads through beautiful old-growth forest to stunning waterfalls cascading through moss-covered rocks. The hike offers moderate terrain and rewards you with one of the prettiest waterfall views in the area.

For another adventure, Grotto Falls has a trailhead roughly 7 miles northeast of the campground. This lesser-known trail takes you through dense forest to a unique grotto setting where water tumbles into a cool, shaded pool.

A short trail from the campground leads to a small cave hidden in the forest.

Swimming and Wading

The beach area is a mix of sand and pebbles. The Little River runs shallow at this spot, making it ideal for wading and cooling off on warm summer days. The gentle current and the calm pools are family-friendly and perfect for kids. Tubing is great here when water levels allow. Bring water shoes for the best experience on the rocky bottom.

Fishing

The confluence of White Creek and the Little River creates good habitat for trout and other native fish. The campground doesn't have a designated fishing area, but you can still look for a spot to cast a line or explore up and down the river for quieter fishing spots.

White Creek Campground Stay

There are four campsites total, including three walk-in sites and one site near the parking area. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring, with two vault toilets and a garbage disposal available nearby.

Like many rustic Forest Service campgrounds, there is no drinking water, showers, or hookups. Campers need to bring their own water and supplies. Tent campers will feel right at home here, but small RVs (generally under 20 feet) can also use the campground.

White Creek Campground is open year-round, weather permitting, though winter conditions may limit access. A small fee of $10 per night is charged for overnight stays, plus $5 per night for each additional vehicle. Payment is cash or check, as there is no cell service for mobile payments.

Because there are only four sites, the campground can fill up quickly on summer weekends. Arriving early, especially on a Thursday, gives you the best chance of securing your spot or even having the entire campground to yourself. Privacy between sites is limited due to the small size, so be prepared to share the space with fellow campers.

Cell service is nonexistent at this location. T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T all report no signal, and there is no Wi-Fi. It’s a good idea to let someone know your plans before heading out, and come prepared to disconnect from the digital world. Campfires are allowed in the provided fire rings when conditions are safe, but fire restrictions may be in place during dry summer months.
