• Devils Kitchen Wayside is a viewpoint and a beach access at Haystack Rock
Located 5 miles away from Old Town Bandon, Devils Kitchen Wayside is a viewpoint along Bandon Beach Loop Road. The wayside provides a beach access to a vast sandy beach with numerous rock formations including a local landmark - Haystack Rock. This area is the northern part of Bandon State Natural Area.
Haystack Rock is an impressive rock formation sitting right at the surf with a smaller Bird Rock in front of it and a plethora of other unnamed sea stacks around. This is one of the three Haystack Rocks on the Oregon Coast. Other Haystack Rocks are sited on Cannon Beach and at Pacific City.
There are a total of 3 separate entrances to the beach: Devil's Kitchen Wayside, Mars Lane, and Bandon Wayside. Devil's Kitchen offers plentiful parking and amenities while two others only offer access to the beach and very limited parking. Bandon Wayside has picnic tables, but the path to the beach is an informal, badly overgrown trail. Mars Lane is unmarked and practically hidden in the residential area off Bandon's Beach Loop Road, so be mindful of where you park.
Devil's Kitchen is a day-use area with picnic tables, restrooms, seating benches, and a big parking lot. Once you make your way to the beach, you will encounter a local landmark - Haystack Rock.
This can be a fantastic one-stop spot for beach combing, rockhounding, nature viewing, and picnicking! The town of Bandon offers a variety of additional activities from restaurants to access to other Pacific Northwest wonders!
