Cantrall Buckley County Park sits 15 miles southwest of Medford along the banks of the Applegate River. The park has nearly two miles of river frontage, scenic nature, a campground, and a well-developed day-use area. This place is fantastic for swimming, fishing, camping, picnicking, and other outdoor activities.

The grassy area extends all the way to the river, and trees are scattered throughout the park creating a comfortable shade. There are multiple picnic tables with fire rings all over the Cantrall Buckley.

The park has 4 group picnic areas. One can be reserved by phone, while 3 others are first-come, first-served. There are a playground for kids, a 2-lane boat launch ramp, and a volleyball net.

Pets are welcome here but must always be on a leash. Day-use area is open year-round.

Applegate River is a fantastic place for fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, and other activities. The water warms up to 65° F - 70° F (18° C - 21° C) in August.

While at the park, you should hike the Gin Lin Mining Trail and visit Applegate Lake.

Camping and Lodging

Cantrall Buckley Park Campground has 30 campsites for RVs, trailers, or tents, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The group campground can be reserved by phone and accommodates up to 100 people.

Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring but no RV hook-up. The campground has showers, flush toilets, and drinking water. There is no garbage service. Park's campground is open from May through mid-September.

  • Take OR-238 and travel southwest for 9.2 miles to Hamilton Road
