• D River State Recreation Site offers stunning beachside recreation
D River State Recreation Site, located in Lincoln City just off Highway 101, is one of the area's most popular beaches. It has free parking, picnic areas, and restrooms.
It is home to the D River, recognized as the world's shortest river, stretching only 120 feet (37 meters) from Devils Lake to the Pacific Ocean.
This beach is part of Lincoln City’s 7-mile sandy coastline, which includes Roads End Beach, Nelscott Beach, and Taft Beach.
The site is a haven for beachcombing, rockhounding, fishing, picnicking, kite flying, and soaking up the beach's natural beauty. It also serves as the venue for Lincoln City’s annual Finders Keepers Glass Float Event and the vibrant two-day Summer and Fall Kite Festivals.
Beachcombing and Rockhounding
The sandy shore is not the most productive spot to find ocean treasures, but you can still find cool collectibles on the low tide and after winter storms.
The most common finds here are agates, jasper, petrified wood, sea shells, and sea glass.
Finders Keepers is the ultimate beachcombing event. From mid-October to Memorial Day, nearly 3,000 glass floats are distributed along 7 miles of the public city's beaches. From Roads End on the north to Siletz Bay on the south, including D River State Recreation Site beach.
Kite-Flying
D River State Recreation Site is a popular kite-flying spot. In fact, the park hosts the famous Summer and Fall Kite Festivals.
The festival includes kite displays, kite flying demos, free kids kite making, running of the bols, and the most colorful large kites in the world!
