Nesika Beach is a beautiful and uncrowded sandy shore along Highway 101 about 8 miles north of Gold Beach and 20 miles north of Port Orford.

It forms the southern part of a nearly 6‑mile stretch of sand often called Ophir and Nesika Beaches, running from the minor headland known as Devil's Backbone down to the small community of Nesika Beach.

Even though the whole stretch is technically Ophir Beach, people use "Nesika Beach" for the south end, near the community and Nesika Road.

The area is best known as one of Curry County's top surfperch fishing beaches, but it's also an excellent place for long beach walks, beachcombing, rockhounding, surfing, and other adventures.

The beach rarely feels crowded. Even in late spring and summer, when surfperch fishing is at its best, you can still find long open stretches with almost no one else around.

There are several access points to this long beach, and the access on Nesika Road is the main one for the south end. It is easy to reach, has room for cars to park along the road, and a short trail that takes you down to the sand.

Nesika Beach – Things to Do

Beachcombing and Rockhounding

The beach is great for beachcombing and rockhounding. When the tides and swells line up, you can walk the upper shoreline and look for agates (most common in this area), jasper, quartz, driftwood, and shells.

Surfperch Fishing

Ophir and Nesika Beaches are some of the best places in Curry County for surfperch fishing. The long beach gives anglers plenty of space, so lines are not crowded. The best time for fishing is usually from late spring to mid-summer.

Surfing

The south end near the beach is best for surfing. It works best when winds blow from the south and ocean swells come in from the open coast.
