Things to Do at Olallie Campground and Day-Use Area

Camping Beside the Water

Falling asleep to the sound of rushing water is part of the experience here.

The lower loop offers views of both the McKenzie River and nearby creek, while the upper loop is more forested and quieter, with several sites nestled deep among the trees.

A few sites have shorter or uneven spurs, making them better suited for tents than larger RVs.

Hiking and Biking the McKenzie River Trail

One of the highlights of staying here is direct access to the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail, which follows the river for about 26 miles.

Mountain bikers call it some of the best singletrack in Oregon, and hikers love the lush, mossy views.

Fishing, Rafting, and Swimming

The day-use picnic area gives you easy bank access to fish the McKenzie.

Want more action? The river stretches 90 miles, offering everything from lazy swimming spots to roaring whitewater. So bring your rod, your raft, or just your swimsuit.

Olallie Campground Details

Olallie has 16 sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Amenities include vault toilets on each loop and drinking water from a hand-pumped well on the lower loop, though availability may vary seasonally.

A camp host lives on-site, and firewood is for sale.

Sites generally accommodate vehicles and trailers up to about 35 feet, but there are no electrical hookups, making this a more traditional forest camping experience.

Reservations are available through Recreation.gov up to six months in advance.

Some sites may also be available through Scan and Pay, which functions like a cash payment and is non-refundable.

Because cell service is limited or unavailable, it’s a good idea to download maps or the Recreation.gov app before arriving.
