• Paradise Campground provides direct access to the McKenzie River Trail
Paradise Campground sits along OR-126 in the Willamette National Forest, about 51 miles east of Eugene and 4 miles east of McKenzie Bridge.
Set beneath towering Douglas fir and cedar trees draped in moss, Paradise Campground offers a classic McKenzie River experience.
With 61 sites along the river and in the forest, it’s one of the most popular campgrounds in the area - and for good reason.
Things to Do at Paradise Campground
Camping Beside the River
Fall asleep to the sound of rushing water on the McKenzie River. Some campsites sit right along the riverbank, while others are tucked deeper into the forest for added privacy.
Even at a larger campground, the layout provides a comfortable sense of space between sites.

Hiking and Biking the McKenzie River Trail
One of the highlights of staying here is direct access to the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail. This scenic trail follows the river for about 26.5 miles and is widely considered one of Oregon’s premier hiking and mountain biking routes.
For a rewarding day hike, follow the trail along the river and enjoy views of waterfalls, mossy forests, and turquoise pools.
Fishing, Rafting, and Kayaking
The nearby day-use area offers easy river access for fishing along the McKenzie.
The river corridor provides a wide range of recreation opportunities, from calm scenic floats to challenging whitewater sections ranging from Class I to Class IV, depending on conditions.
Several river access points and boat ramps are available along the corridor.
Family Fun and Day-Use
During peak summer, rangers lead educational programs at the camp's amphitheater. Both the amphitheater and the picnic grounds are wheelchair-accessible, which is a nice touch.

Paradise Campground Details
Paradise Campground offers 61 sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill.
Flush toilets and piped water are available, making it a comfortable base-camp in the forest.
Sites cost around $22 per night, plus a fee for extra vehicles. Camping is available by reservation or on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on the season, with a maximum stay of 14 days.
Because this campground is extremely popular in summer, securing a site can be challenging. Visiting in the shoulder season often provides better availability and the bonus of beautiful fall colors along the river.
