• Daphne Grove Campground offers peaceful camping along the South Fork Coquille River

Daphne Grove Campground is a quiet, riverside retreat in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, about 14 miles south of Powers. With 14 forested campsites and easy paved access, it's a favorite for peaceful camping, wildlife viewing, and simple outdoor recreation in southern Oregon's Coast Range.
Set on a broad, lichen-draped flat above the river, Daphne Grove is surrounded by old-growth cedar, Douglas fir, maple, and myrtle.

The campground's 14 first-come, first-served sites are scattered in the shade and sunlight, just steps from the South Fork Coquille River. The forest is green and alive, with tan oaks and a wild understory. Boulders and rocky banks line the river, inviting you to wade, skip stones, or just watch the water roll by.
Hiking
Daphne Grove makes a great base camp for exploring the surrounding forests, creeks, and backroads. While no big hiking trails leave directly from the campground, you'll find plenty of quiet walks along the river and through the woods. Deer are common, and you might spot a river otter or hear an owl at dusk.
Want a waterfall adventure? The scenic Coquille River Falls Trail is just about 10 miles away, offering a stunning two-tiered waterfall and lush old-growth forest. The drive alone is worth the trip if you love wild landscapes.
Swimming
Looking for a cool, quiet swimming hole in Oregon? Daphne Grove has a gentle, shallow stretch of the South Fork Coquille River, perfect for wading or dipping your toes after a hike. The water is clear and cold, usually in the low 60s in summer.
The riverbank is framed by smooth rocks and shaded by big trees, with enough space to lie out a towel or just listen to the water.
It's never crowded. You'll mostly hear the river and the breeze, not people. Bring a picnic and spend an afternoon by the river - one of the best ways to relax in Oregon.
South Fork Coquille River Rockhounding
If you're into rockhounding in Oregon, Daphne Grove is a fantastic place to hunt for quartz, red and green jasper, and petrified wood along the riverbanks.
Every walk on the shore is a new adventure - the mix of gravel bars, boulders, and exposed rock means there's always a chance to find something cool.
Bring a bucket or just use your pockets. I've seen some beautiful jasper and shiny quartz come out of this river!
